1/2013 – 6/2015   Massachusetts General Hospital – SICU                                             Boston, MA

  • After six months of being a travel nurse in this unit, the nurse manager offered me a full time staff position.  Please see below.

 

7/2013 – 1/2014   Massachusetts General Hospital - SICU                                             Boston, MA

                             Travel Assignment

  • During this extended six month contract, I had the opportunity to work in the surgical intensive care unit of one of the best hospitals in the nation. 

  • Provided care for a broad spectrum of critically ill patients.  Patient population consisted of trauma patients from the nearby metropolitan area to high risk surgical cases.

  • Acquired keen skills at providing care for post operative aneurysm repairs and complicated thoracic cases. 

  • Worked with all avenues of critical care nursing including arterial lines, pulmonary artery lines, vasopressors, ventilators.

  • I found this unit to be both the most challenging and most rewarding position of my career.

 

9/2012 – 6/2013   St. Elizabeth’s Hospital – SICU/CCU/RICU                                          Boston, MA

                             Travel Assignment

  • During this extended nine month contract, I had the opportunity to float between three intensive care units - CCU, MICU, SICU. 

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a variety of patients with severe cardiac disease, respiratory failure, and post-operative cardiac surgery patients.

  • Worked with all avenues of critical care nursing including arterial lines, pulmonary artery lines, vasopressors, and ventilators.

 

6/2012 – 8/2012   Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital – ICU                             Boston, MA

                              Travel Assignment

  • During this thirteen week contract, I had the opportunity to work in an eight bed, primarily medical, intensive care unit. 

  • Faulkner Hospital is a 150 bed community hospital in Boston affiliated with Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  

  • Had the opportunity to become skilled at caring for patients with addictions in both the critical overdose phase as well as the detoxification phase.  

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a variety of patients with respiratory failure usually secondary to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or severe pneumonia. 

 

9/2009 – 5/2012   Penn State Hershey Medical Center – SICU                                       Hershey, PA             

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a variety of patients. 

  • This surgical intensive care unit was the primary unit for all critical trauma patients at this tertiary care center which is a level 1 trauma institution.  In this SICU, I was responsible for one to three patients at any given time.

  • Proficient in caring for all high risk surgical patients, trauma patients, and transplant patients.

  • Skilled at the care and monitoring of continuous venous-venous hemodialysis, pulmonary artery catheters, central venous catheters, arterial catheters, external ventricular drains, therapeutic hypothermia protocols, vigilance and vigileo monitoring systems, oscillator and mechanical ventilators.

  • Accountable for mentoring student nurses and graduate nurses.

 

1/2008 – 9/2009  Penn State Hershey Medical Center - ED                                           Hershey, PA    

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for a variety of patients. 

  • Skilled at providing holistic care for patients and their families in the entire age span including trauma patients. 

  • Responsible for using critical thinking skills in order to acknowledge serious disease processes within patients and collaborate with other staff within the establishment to appropriately care for the critical patient. 

  • Capable for performing competently in resuscitation situations within the Emergency Department.

  • Active member in the ED education council as well as the representative for the ED in the hospital wide education council.
